About Us

We are a husband & wife design + remodel team.

Garrett has been in the real estate space since 2005. Currently, licensed in 2 states, he’s bought and sold hundreds of properties over his career. After falling in love with how homes were built, he took a chance in the renovation space, fixing ugly, run down properties and uncovering their true potential. He would always get asked if he would do work for clients and would always say no, until now! With an increase of homeowners staying in their homes longer, he created TruHaus Design, with his wife Heidi. Together, they can envision a space like no one else can.

As for Heidi, well, she’s always had a passion for design, just ask her about her 8th grade career project! Even her successful career in the entertainment industry, couldn’t dampen her love for anything house related. When she wasn’t writing stories showcasing celebrity homes, she was helping friends design and decorate their spaces. When she and Garrett got married, it was a match made in “anything home” heaven. With Garrett’s experience and her intuition, every space is fully customized to make sense for the client. Heidi’s motto when it comes to design: there is no wrong answer as long as you love it.

Our Process

What sets TruHaus Design apart from all the other remodeling companies, is that we specialize in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, and we approach every project as if it was our own. Our process tends to be very straightforward. (Why complicate it?) We’ll meet you at the space and go over exactly what you are looking for.  From there, we take your ideas and put them into our design program. That way, you’ll be able to visualize what your space will look like. After you’ve OK’d the design, we’ll draw up an estimate, and from there we do our magic!

1. Meet & Greet

During the meet and greet phase, we will discuss design, inspiration, budget and timelines. We want to know your expectations and we will share ours. We truly believe it’s so important to set the tone in our initial meeting so that we can make the experience positive for both parties.

2. Measure & Design

Next, comes all the planning behind the scenes. We’ll take measurements, start sourcing materials, and gathering supplies that are needed to complete the job. We will include a rendering with design elements to help you visualize your finished space.

3. Build it

Our favorite part! This is where the magic happens, when your ideas and our designs come to life.  We treat every project like it’s in our own house. We don’t take shortcuts and we don’t cut corners.  The job isn’t done until everyone is happy.

4. Enjoy the Space

After your project  is complete, it’s time for you to enjoy the space. Renovations may seem like a big investment in the beginning, but it’s always worth it in the end. We take pride in our work and want you to love it. Are you ready to transform your space?

Average Bathroom Remodel Costs

Bathrooms come in all shapes and sizes, so determining the cost of a remodel really comes down to what you’re starting with and where you want to end. It’s up to you how much you want to spend on tile, cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures. When it comes to your budget a good rule of thumb is that approximately 30% of the cost should go towards fixtures and finishes while 70% is the labor to build and install. This includes waterproofing for the shower and bathtub area. We flood test every shower pan to make sure it’s 100% leak proof. Below are some average bathroom renovation costs based on size, but again every bathroom is different. Just because someone else’s bathrooms cost “x” amount of dollars, does not mean yours will be similar.  Ready to get your FREE bathroom estimate?  Click Here

8ft x 6ft Bathroom

Approx. 48 sqft

This is the most common size bathroom we see. It consists of a vanity, toilet and tub/shower combo.  The cost to remodel a bathroom of this size is approximately $8,000-$12,000.

12ft x 8ft Bathroom

Approx. 96 sqft

This is the second most common size bathroom we see. It typically consists of a double vanity, toilet and tub or shower. The cost to remodel a bathroom of this size is approximately $10,000-$18,000.

14ft x 12 ft (Primary Bathroom)

Approx. 168 sqft

Average Kitchen Remodel Costs

The kitchen is the heart of the home.  It’s where families spend the most time together. Just like with bathrooms, there is no ‘standard’ kitchen and so many elements can play into the cost of a renovation. Depending on the type of cabinets, countertops or if you plan to remove soffits or move a wall, kitchen remodels can be anywhere from $25,000 to over $80,000+.

U-SHaped Style Kitchen

A U-Shaped style kitchen takes advantage of wall space when the footprint is not wide enough for an island. The U-Shaped style kitchen utilizes a peninsula, which adds seating at the counter.  This is the most common kitchen style we renovate.

Island Style Kitchen

Island style kitchens are extremely desirable. Space permitting, this design provides seating and extra counter space. The key to this design is creating a layout that is functional but not cramped. This is our most requested upgrade in a kitchen, changing the footprint to add a kitchen island.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

TruHaus Design provides an all-in-one renovation solution that combines high-quality design, materials, and construction into a single, stress-free home renovation experience. We understand you have many choices when it comes to remodeling, but we treat your project as if it was our own. That’s our promise.

We mainly focus on kitchen and bathroom remodels. We do not overbook. When we start, we intend to finish within the allotted time frame. (Yes, sometimes things come up that may prevent that, but we work hard to make sure that doesn’t happen.)

This is a tough question! Remodels can take a few days, or a few months. It all depends on the scope of work.  We give estimated timelines for when things will be completed and update you regularly. Unexpected things do come up from time to time, but we work hard to mitigate any issues and keep you in the loop.

90% of the time, no, we do not sub out to other subcontractors. We can do almost everything, however, sometimes there are situations where specialty skills are required. In those rare instances we may bring in outside help. One thing that sets us apart is that any outside help is never left unattended in your home. We will be there every step of the way.

Absolutely!  We are happy to come and take a look at your project. What we hear from our clients is that they truly trust us and are confident that we will give them a positive experience with an amazing outcome. Get My FREE Estimate!

Unfortunately, we do not have a finance option.  Most clients utilize the equity in their home to put towards renovations.

Typically, we do not. We charge by the project. If we charged hourly and there was an issue or things took longer than expected, the clients would end up having to pay more. Instead we charge by the project so any delays incurred do not come at the expense of our clients.

Just one. We make it a priority to focus on one job at a time. We aren’t a contracting company that subs out work to others. This might cause your job to be scheduled a little later but our goal is to finish your remodel in the timeframe we set. We are present every day, except Saturday and Sunday. (That’s family time for us).

We feel these two things go hand in hand. Most people might have an idea of what they want in a remodel, but don’t understand how to bring in different elements.  We help you plan it all out, from start to finish!
